I am excited to start a new semester with everyone. It is now time to buckle down and work hard. I hopefully will be able to graduate fall 2020. The near seems so far away but I am starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I hope everyone had a great Christmas break and happy New Year. A student is unable to be an effective learner without an effective teacher. They go hand in hand. Teachers are to plan a lesson, teach and constantly assess students. The effective teaching cycle is planning, instruction, and assessment. A teacher needs to plan an effective lesson that will support the students learning. The instruction is the learning environment and needs to be engaging. Lastly, the teacher needs to assess students learning, provide feedback and support. As I look back at my action plan from 251 my goal was to successfully write and teach task one through four of edTPA. Learning experience First of all, I am so happy fall is officially here. This semester has been great and I feel I am learning a great amount this year. Each semester I learn something new that I can apply in my future classroom. For some students, they have worked in a school for a while. For me, I am I have been in the medical field for ten years and this is a whole new world to me.  As I work through this class I have learned how to blog. I would have never started a blog on my own. I do feel that it is a great way to express your thoughts and learn from other classmates. In the future, I may even be able to connect with other teachers and find new ideas to use in my classroom. As I think about teaching in my classroom there are several techniques to engage students. One technique I plan to use is collaborative learning. In my observations, I have seen many teachers have student work in groups. I love group work, I feel the students are more productive and help the students learn how to communicate. A lesson needs to be fun and have a meaning in order for the students to be engaged. The students have to have an interest in what is being taught and to be honest not all subjects are interesting to all students. It is the teacher's job to make it interesting and fun for the students. The activities need to be learning appropriate for the specific grade level. When I was in school, I never was engaged in the lesson. Most of the time we learned from a textbook. My kindergarten teachers would play songs and games. The Effective Teaching and Learning Cycle I used to think when I was a kid that teaching is easy. The teachers just get up in front of the class and teach us from a book. Not that I am going to school for teaching it has opened my eyes that there is more to teaching than an adult teaching from a book. I want my students to be engaged and understand what I am teaching. I have wondered how do I get my students engaged in learning. The effective teaching and learning cycle showed me how I can have effective teaching in my future classroom. I understand the importance of standards and unpacking standards even more now. Standards are important to teachers it tells educators exactly what to teach and what students need to know.
